And by "this" I mean the amount of time that has passed since I last posted.
So, an UPDATE:
This weekend I was prompted by one of my cohorts to update. SO HERE YOU GO.
This weekend I also met Artemio Rodriguez, who has been one of my printmaking heroes ever since at the tender age of about 20 I found his work in a book of Chicano printmakers on Olvera Street. I have come to the realization that I am brown on the inside based on the fact that my favorite artists are all Latino, or specifically Mexican: Yolanda Lopez, Artemio Rodriguez, and Frida Kahlo.
I think I already knew that based on my unexplainable desire to have a quinceañera when I was 15.
Also, not making bizarre things makes me depressed, so I'm making this:
This is a sketch for an upcoming project, obnoxious yappy celebrities as obnoxious yappy dogs. Since I live in LA I might as well make work that reflects my environment.
In other news, I'm making a huge installation of recycled bottle flowers as part of a festival day at work. We've made about 250 so far. Everything is easier with minions! The girls are great and I'm pretty excited about it.

This sounds like the Art Mart I know. And while it may be too late to celebrate your quinceañera,
ReplyDeleteperhaps we could celebrate your veinticuatroañera next year?
